Poems written during the "LONG WAIT'

Imagine the all consuming yet innocent young love of a 15 year old boy and a 14 year old girl.Suddenly all contact is lost due to a conspiring grandmother who intercepted and destroyed U. S. mail. 60 years roll by:They each had married and raised large families and they meet again. Time passes. Another six years before they are both widowed and thenn………..

Through the swirling sands of time Out of the murky mists of a distant past I clearly heard her call my name "Virg", she said; she spoke my name at last And tho memories fade and are soon gone When two souls have touched, their love is sound Their paths have lrd them far apart A spring when stretched will rebound But who is this lovely child of God? Do I really know her? What is the truth? I imagine her like the girl I knew To me there`s magic about this girl named Ruth Hark! a warning bell keeps sounding Virg be careful, you can do much wrong Don`t let your selfishness carry the day Be a gentleman, first and last be strong God, if I only knew what course to take My heart and brain are so diverse Such strong emotions, long thought dead I`m as muddled as this rambling verse
Virgil Ballard was born in 1927 into a ranching family and spent the first 60 years of his life a horseback and ranching. He later formed a real estate company and is still pursuing that endeavor in 2010.His writings show wisdom, humor and common sense that comes from spending years in the saddle.
