The Author has experience in Ice Age Climatology and Geology in the area from the Black Hills, South Dakota to eastern Nebraska with Midland College, the University of Nebraska Department of Geology and Morrill Hall State Museum of Paleontology. He mapped Ice Age deposited soils and landforms including fossil deposits. He performed Arctic Surveys with the US Navy Oceanographic Office ships USNS Dutton and Michelson and the Coast and Geodetic Survey ships Surveyor and Oceanographer. These were the first modern geophysical surveys in the North Sea and offshore Alaska, Washington to California and Hawaii. His particular expertise in modern geophysical surveying and mapping has led to well grounded understanding of coastal and sea floor features of the arctic and Antarctic, using new ice and sediment mapping techniques tied to modern navigation and positioning. His hobby is understanding man’s adaptability to climate, early migrations, exploration and appreciation of the Neolithic mind gaining man’s survival abilities. Adequate education of the public, including historic climate change information, for planet management seems necessary. The fact that 700 million years ago, earth was locked in ice cover for millions of years should be realized. Then vast volcanic eruptions created a greenhouse gas atmosphere and earth’s climate alternated between too hot and too cold for human development. These conditions should be understood and avoided at all costs. For future survival, humans must understand the importance of climate and earth management, and live and act accordingly.
Free Preview The Economic Benefit for Controlling Climate Change – (GOD’S MONEY) Scientific research must eventually be predictive so that proper mitigation will be enacted. In the case of Global Warming, climate control that most benefits humanity will pay for itself in a multitude of ways and many times over. Expense is only in the mind of the “Naysayer”. Risk to humanity is the overwhelming factor. Proper science must be the key and NOT the “whipping boy”. How much more TIME do we really have? Humanity can bounce present climate change mitigation costs against the mega-trillions of dollars, EU pounds or Yen of The Climate Earth and its’ ultimate worth for the survival of life (as we know it). “The Economist”, Dec 5-11, 2009 page 11, hits this subject a hammer blow. “Although the benefits of averting that sort of catastrophe are incalculably large, the costs of doing so should NOT be enormous – as little as 1% of global output…” Climatesavers remind us that we already have, or can have at our finger tips, strong enough science to predict mega-temperature change for the future, what and why it is happening (if we forget to play with E-mails). Industry has, for a century (in many cases) developed the clean energy methods for electric power and transportation to control atmospheric CO2 ) (A CO2). We already produced a worldwide bank saving program in 2009 costing about 5% of global output, and some of this is being paid back to the US Treasury as I write. If we (the US and the World) can cut carbon emissions properly (see Figure 2), the value will be at least one third the savings of man’s Global Output. These are the uncountable trillions of gold, platinum and sustainable human breath! WHAT’S MONEY FOR – ANYHOW? It can be used to RIGHT the imperfections of men’s past mistakes with the earth’s environment – if we have proper TIME. As President Obama said in Oslo, “Our Common Security Hangs in the Balance”.
The author was educated at Midland College and the Universities of Nebraska and Virginian and explored the following: • Ice Age soils, climatology and deposits of Nebraska. • Sea Floor features for the Black and Mediterrandean Sea, Arctic Ocean from Greenland to Norway, Alaska Arctic Seas of Norton Sound, Bristol Bay and the Aleutians as well as the high Antacrtic Plateau surveys. University, State, Federal and International data exchange on Geology, Geophysics, Climatology, Glaciology and Human cold weather exploration is both a lifelong occupation and hobby. • His experience in energy fuels and pollution was gained by offshore environmental assessments for seventeen years with the Dept of Interior, Minerals Management Service.
