In The Blue Getting green” is the first in a series of fictional children’s books based on the adventures of Pumpkin and Diddle, two tropical fish who dream of travel, excitement, and saving the world. In this story they enlist the help of magical butterflies to free them from the fish tank that imprisons them so that they may chase a dream and help the world become a greener place.

Throughout their adventure they meet many interesting creatures, and visit an ocean full of beautiful colours and shapes and as the tale unfolds a cheeky blue marron crab called Fab plays hide “n” seek. Readers are challenged as they follow the story to search for the secrets that lay hidden among the pages. Fab hides within each page and because he is such an absent minded crab, has also lost his home. The reader is asked to find Fab, his home and discover the five differences that exist between the pages of the story.

I was born in England in 1965 and due to work opportunities offered to my father spent most of what was an extremely happy childhood, growing up in a small town called Nelson on the south island of New Zealand. In 1980 I moved to Australia and then in 1982 joined the Royal Australian Navy as an electrician where I remained and worked for the next 23 years. In 1992 I met my wife Vicky and a few years later my daughter Ayeesha was born followed 18 months later by my son Bowie. In 2005 I published my first book, “Art & Soul”, a collection of poetry and digital art, and having found the confidence and means to get a book published I turned to my children and found the inspiration to write and illustrate the first in what will be a series of four books based on the adventures of two tropical fish. I have presented the story in the form of rhyme and have also incorporated several games with the aim of making it more interesting and interactive. The theme of this and indeed the next three books will be our planet and the issues that we are currently faced with and it is through this book that I hope that we can help to spread the word…”Keep our planet clean and beautiful”.
