Magda Wimmer
Right from the start, one thing stood out - my way of approaching life. When I was a child, I often wondered why I seemed to bring unrest to people and situations, for instance at school I was considered a disruptive presence. Today I understand this to be "the gaze of the owl" - the owl is just particularly gifted at seeing in the dark, and it sees things that others miss, or which they may even want to overlook. And this talent, of course, can alarm and frighten other people. Often, I don't even have to say, or do anything - it's enough that I'm there...It's a gift, my gift. And I use it to help people and the world around me to heal, and to become whole again. When I first encountered shamanism in North and Central America, I soon realized that I had actually been doing a lot of this work for a while, but that I just hadn't had a name for it, and didn't know what various techniques and practices were called. But since I displayed an instinctive understanding and aptitude, it never took long until shamans and I started working together as equals. I was often amazed to discover how much I already knew.
This kind of work (and the process of writing is part of it, because it helps me focus and raise awareness of certain connections) means working between the worlds; it is working in our world, but also in worlds that our senses cannot grasp. This work requires a lot of time, peace and concentration, which is why I like to leave Europe in the winter, and seek out places where energy fields are very stable (such as Canada's West Coast) to dedicate myself to my task.
