In 1939 the author and her parents fled Germany just ahead of the Holocaust with only the clothes on their backs and what they could carry. Unable to speak English and burdened with the need to survive in a world foreign to them, eight year old Lilian's parents sometimes did not realize children can have problems of their own.
Lilian Barber now lives in Murrieta, CA with her husband, 9 Italian Greyhounds, an Eclectus parrot and 3 tortoises. A past president of the Italian Greyhound Club of America and of the Kennel Club of Palm Springs, she has had four books published about the Italian Greyhound, is a regular columnist for several dog magazines and has written articles on subjects that include travel, music and exotic pets.
