Frida is a South American beauty with great legs - all four sets. Frida's stories are tales of everyday situations, seen through the eight eyes of a spider.
Tired of rebuilding her web, Frida sets off to build her home in a safer place. The adventure begins when the rain starts like it does that time everyday. She escapes her sinking home across raging waters and by hungry predators only to end up back at the tree where she began. Frida builds her web again, because that is what a spider does.
Derek Morell, a native Michigander, was an original Launch Team Member for PAX-TV but his passion lies in developing all areas of creative media including directing, producing and writing for a younger audience. He is currently working on several other children's books, screen plays and has co-authored a novel he hopes to publish soon. It was his wife's homeland of Brazil and his two young daughters who inspired him to create The Misadventures of Frida. Having collaborated with Gordon Tobul on several exhibits at the South Florida Science Museum, Derek asked Gordon if he would like to carry the collaboration a step further and The Misadventures of Frida became a reality. Derek belongs to several writing groups including the Florida Writer's Association and regularly has his work critiqued by teachers and other writers. He believes in creating commercially successful programming for young audiences and stays committed to an educational approach that grows from constructive ideals and positive values. He practices what he preaches as the Vice President of Operations at the South Florida Science Museum in West Palm Beach, Florida where he takes a hands-on approach to creating "Fun Science" for kids.
