A Little Bible Guide For Carly begun March 2004, is an aid for young adults and others entering the Catholic Church. It is especially for those who are interested in Bible history and studying the Bible as literature. At that time, Carly was starting to read a Bible which had been a special present from a very special friend.
Beginning with an overall summary of biblical times and identification of the biblical patriarchs, I followed with an Old Testament history, New Testament history, and a brief summary of key terms.
A Little Bible Guide For Carly provides the author, setting, timeline, context and intended messages for each book of the Bible. It is particularly helpful for young Christian adults that have received limited religious guidance from parents, school, or church.
Carly's interest in studying the Bible was the inspiration for writing A Little Bible Guide For Carly. Guided by the Holy Spirit in my efforts, it is my hope this book will assist her in hearing the Word of God to keep her on the path of physical and spiritual growth and understanding of how beautiful she is in the eyes of God and an adoring Grandfather.
Jim Leonard is a retired technical writer and manager of technical, management and cost proposals from industry to the federal government. At retirement, he moved to San Luis Obispo, California, to be nearer family and learn to "see as a child" again through interactions with his grandchildren. His personal spiritual journey led him to the Old Mission in San Luis Obispo, where he has sponsored new members entering the Catholic Church, under the direction of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults team. He also participates in Bible study groups at the Benedictine Monastery of the Risen Christ. Jim's spiritual quest and his writing expertise came together inspired by his desire to give his oldest granddaughter, 13-year-old Carly, a "gift" to assist her in studying the Bible. Thus A Little Bible Guide For Carly was born.
