Animal Alliteration and Animal Acrostics Investigations by Laurence Conway is for children aged five to eleven years and combines creative literacy (rhymes), knowledge (about animals) and investigational challenges into a highly entertaining and educationally stimulating mixture.

The title graphics illustrate simply what alliteration and acrostics are all about. These instructions which follow provide a succinct overview of contents:

Explore ALLITERATION from A to Z

with these snappy rhymes about animals.

SING* or SAY,

Enjoy them either way!

*New words set to very familiar tunes. Chord symbols are included for optional accompaniment.

Also try the ACROSTICS "True or false?" investigations. Compare what you find out with the answers at the back.

How about making up some alliteration rhymes, acrostics and acrostics investigations of your own, too?

Insects, reptiles, mammals, birds and flying fish all feature: alphabetical order, one to a page (except zebras and zebus which share a page).

In each case, the creature's initial letter is given at the top as a Boxed capital.

Then comes the alliteration rhyme - complete with colour-coded alliteration indicators (bold) and chord symbols (optional singing, optional accompaniment).

Laurence Conway is a teacher with several years experience at a broad variety of UK schools. He works with children between 3 and 11 years old at levels known as the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, covering the full range of subjects applicable.

He specializes in writing curriculum-based rhymes and songs to facilitate children's learning and enliven their learning experiences. Since he has been teaching, he has written - and continues to write - material that addresses the everyday essentials of school life: just about everything from remembering number bonds (all the additions that make 10, 20, etc) to lining up in an acceptable manner without talking, turning, or touching! Some of his items have appeared as magazine features.
