This book is about American jazz history and a very special place in San Francisco that was called Earthquake McGoon's, which was one of the longest running jazz clubs in America.
Included in Meet Me At McGoon's are some 860 photos and illustrations, a complete index and an updated list of Turk Murphy recordings at the time of writing this book.
Pete Clute was the long-time, and much loved piano player in the Turk Murphy Band and co-owner of Earthquake McGoon's. This composer and arranger was known world wide and was active in music right up to the time of his unexpected death. He and Donna Ewald wrote "San Francisco Invites the World," an acclaimed book about the 1915 San Francisco Exposition. Jim Goggin founded the San Francisco Traditional Jazz Foundation, produced recordings and written articles for jazz periodicals. He is currently working on his tenth book about jazz, three of which were co-authored by Pete Clute.
