In this book, the answer to the puzzle of life is presented in its raw and digestible clear state. Life’s Classics may be likened to a well packaged bunch of seedlings of wisdom. For those who can transplant these seedlings into their lives; they will definitely grow into gigantic trees of success with fruits that will affect their generation positively. Life’s Classics does not just present the keys needed to unlock the potentials in any (and every) individual, it also draws its rich materials from things we see around us but whose real meaning is hidden from many people. By the time you are through with this slim but potent book, you will begin to see yourself in another light and all those seemly impossible situations will suddenly begin to unfold the other side of the coin. This is because, if the entire pages of this great book could be distilled into just one sentence, that sentence would be, ‘There is no impossible situation’.

This book gives advice on how to wisely use our time on earth. I view it as a sort of prescription for life, and as a physician-surgeon who has written numerous prescriptions each day for over thirty years, I feel I have something good to share. This book is unique in format because, while some of the articles are essays, others tend to outline instructions with explanations. This book is simple and clear, yet, the lessons are important to learn and follow. It gives specific examples on how to apply these important principles in our daily activities. This book is a collection of my writings over the past ten years.

Gordon L Ewell (US Army Retired) served in the war in Iraq. He had one of the most dangerous missions; find the roadside bombs. He completed 59 combat missions, was blown-up on six different occasions, and saved countless lives. He was also severely wounded in the process. Blessed to cheat on so many occasions, he now seeks to greet each day with a positive energy that is contagiously caring, light-hearted and motivational. This collection of his quotes was gathered during five very long and intense years he spent on his “Recovery Road,” trying to get back and regain as much of himself as he possibly could. A step at a time, Ewell fought to do that in part by telling himself every single day to think of something positive, uplifting and encouraging that he could focus on and share with others, rather than dwelling on the pain and depression that tried to consume most of his recovery. His nick-name is Gordy. Before long his inspirational daily motivational thoughts for the day were being looked forward to by others who he was hospitalized and recovering with. They had started to refer to his morning thought for the day, as Gordy-isms. And so became the birth of Gordy-isms, and something he continues to do today; think of something positive to start his day. Gordy-isms leave you feeling good, inside and out!

As I pen these words for this overview, a great storm called Sandy is under way to hit here in Connecticut. The power went off, and it seems like the worse storm I have ever been in. However, I trust in God. I know he never fails. If you are reading this book, he didn’t fail this time, and he never will. This book is not just for Christians. It is like the Gospel; one size fits all. That is because God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but shall have everlasting life. As you read this book, remember you are a gift from God, just as everyone is. So look inside you for your miracle, knowing no matter who you are, you are blessed to be a blessing. There is a song that says there is no secret what God can do, that what he has done for others he will do for you. This is my testimony as to what God has done for me. I know that he will do the same for you today. Just believe. Study God’s Word for yourself, and please allow yourself to learn from others. Also be a hearer and a doer of the word. “The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runneth unto it and is safe” (Proverb 18:10).

This book covers various aspects of meditation. It defines what meditation is and what it is not, as well as its origin, the source of unhappiness, confusion and despair that can affect anyone. It discusses the nature of a human being, what it is made of, and the laws dominating the universe. You will discover the benefits that meditation can bring at the physical, mental and spiritual levels. You will learn the specific steps of meditation, namely how to breathe, the body postures, how to concentrate, as well as the experiences that meditation can bring to you and how to avoid and remedy the errors often made by beginners. The teachings of this book are based on the MahaMudra (the Great Symbol), one of the most ancient and purest forms of meditation known to this day.

“I’ve just made one of the most difficult decisions in my twenty-something years. It could be the worst, could as well be the best. Where do I go from here? But all I can say is, my life will never be the same again”—John Mark Ofori, character in the script. Life, Change, and Eternity is a story about how difficult it has become for humans, a society, or a person to move away from a particular way of life—mostly because they are familiar with their environment and are not motivated in any way to change practices. Change is a difficult decision to make—whether for good or bad. In the pages of this book, the writer portrays how important it is for a society or a person to embrace change and the consequences thereof. The foundation of the theme is seeded on two parallel events: a country facing an imminent presidential and parliamentary elections and a pastor’s son who is struggling to answer an alter call. Life, Change, and Eternity, read on . . .

When the indomitable Suzan tumbled to the ground, so did her world—a world of endless high-paced activities as a hotel sales executive. The struggle through terrible times became their shared, heartrending story. It tells us much about love triumphing over adversity, aided and abetted by medical magicians. Although they had never heard of Guillain-Barré syndrome until it struck like wicked lightning, this book follows their journey to make as complete recovery as possible. Through Suzan and John’s words of candor and humor, readers become conversant with this little-known, uncaring, and improbable disease. This book is about unlikely survival, the revitalization of life for two people, and their sharing hard-won knowledge to ease the journey of others. It shows that even with daunting odds against recovery, it is possible to recover to inspire others facing this terrible disease.
