To chart the course of our ship of state, could not find their butts with both hands. The active writing has occurred whenever I could find the time after work or on weekends, and could shake the guilt trip of not acquiescing to my wife's suggestions of outings to the mountains, ocean, rivers, and other destinations of natural beauty in the Pacific Northwest. It is my conviction, that unless I, and a large number of my fellow travelers begin to spend less time enjoying the natural beauty and recreational opportunities of our respective areas, and more time supervising and reassessing the role of our representatives to government, that very soon we will no longer be free to go where we want, and do what we please. The atrocities in Waco, Texas, Ruby Ridge Idaho, and the recently passed "homeland security" legislation, has prompted me to spend more time, with less guilt, staring at this computer screen. It is not my intent to be vindictive, however, each pointed finger will require that I step on the toes of some very powerful people, to call into question some strong beliefs, to rattle some long forgotten skeletons, and lay bare the foundation of our society itself. I no doubt will become the grinch who stole Christmas, the skunk who attended the picnic in the park, and the little boy pointing out that the Emperor has no clothes, all rolled up into one. This book is about the government of Canada and how they treat their citizens —the tax payers— and how they break all of their promises made. It is also about the government's mismanagement of all affairs concerning the citizens, the massive spending that doesn't help the average person, and their scandals that are hidden and covered up. There is no trust between the citizens and the government. How many homeless citizens are there that can't find housing or jobs, and can't afford to go to above everything else? There are gun and gang problems, and problems about how they run the court systems. The police that are to serve and protect are caught beating up the citizens. The doctors still work, after being sued for malpractice. Our meat producers are paying off the inspectors. There are members in Parliament that are stealing our tax money and confess and still don't go to jail. Our governor general says she's not a part of separation but her husband is. It is hard to trust the government when they don't trust themselves. Their only concern is for the rich, and the poor suffer. Everything they do is behind closed doors like their covering up the issues that the Canadian citizen's demand to know about. They allow all the new immigrants into Canada for trade jobs when we can't find work, or housing and live in poverty. Our elderly citizens are beaten and abused in nursing homes, and it's covered up. Instead of the government working on infrastructure they give money to tourism. The poor are left to fend for themselves with no chance of advancement because there's no help for them. We're treated like second-class citizens and the immigrants get everything they ask for. The water and lakes are polluted, and the cities are falling underground.

What influences have led America in the space of a single generation to deviate from her path as "champion of the free world"? Why is the supposedly freest, most powerful nation on Earth becoming the most easily vanquished? What forces have changed American minds so drastically as to turn her citizens into their own worst enemies? How has the failure of vigilance, a simple citizens' duty, cost America her leading position in the community of nations - despite her unrivalled achievements? These and hundreds more disturbing questions about America's carefully shaded past, confused present, and dubious destiny are addressed in this book. BEYOND OUR CONSENT is a psycho-political study of American history that reveals how and why the "land of the free" has been gradually but steadily guided away from its original founders' noble intent. These founders deliberately established a new nation in a historically unprecedented action, one that provided true independence to all its mutually aspiring citizens. From the outset, however, the forces of greed and power-lust have surreptitiously and successfully undermined this noble vision. Even now, this nation, once believed to be the home of "the free and the brave", is being reduced to a state of denial , insecurity, and cowering fear of its own bloated, blusteringly arrogant government. BEYOND OUR CONSENT goes for the throat of America's present failure. It describes the work-the hard work-that must be done in order that Americans can regain the stature their forefathers envisaged for them. This book, like those to follow, addresses itself to readers who are prepared and willing to do that work. This is the first work in a series called THE ARCADIAN PRIMER , a unique research effort directed toward exposing the truth behind many dark rumors of conspiracy that plague the interplay between U.S. affairs and world events. Readers will discover that the complacency of their daily lives has become immersed in previously unsuspected influences-influences that are quietly modifying traditional American attitudes and behavior to fit an alien agenda, an agenda that leads to helplessness and enslavement. Traditional political, economic, media, educational, and religious institutions have become infiltrated at the highest levels by "agents" whose agendas are inimical to the interests of trusting American citizens. BEYOND OUR CONSENT examines in penetrating depth the insidious methods these agents employ and the corrosively destructive effects they are having upon a free society. The "New World Order ", generally conceived as an American triumph, carries within it the seeds of a global totalitarian government controlled by an unimaginably wealthy " Power Elite ". Because most Americans have grown numb to political rhetoric, they may perceive this discussion of the " Power Elite " as yet another exercise in irrelevant catch phrases. Such a response, however, only demonstrates the gradual and intentional erosion of their own capacities for response, their own resistance to a very real threat of enslavement. The average American citizen has not yet learned that the daily diet of inane stimulation-the exposure to criminal violence, licentious sex, and mindless or bizarre amusement-is in fact a weapon of psychological warfare. The present cultural environment attacks and numbs the senses without leaving any visible trace of its debilitating causes. This tool of war undermines the individual moral sense; ultimately, it will destroy the fabric of society. The chapters of this book thread through a startling maze of facts, events, and experiences, revealing a pattern of silent conquest, a pattern that concerned readers will recognize as familiar in their own lives and dominant in the unfolding history of our time. Wherever there is a problem, though, there is also a solution. Americans need look no further than to them selves for the key to the success or failure of liberty. They alone have the option to preserve liberty or to lose it. The power of the possibilities discussed in these pages depends on the American people-the quality of their collective hearts and the determination of their national will. This book is not easy to read. It was not meant to be. Yet like those to follow, it also offers hope. It reveals the steps by which Americans wandered from the path of duty and shows the means by which Americans may yet retrace their steps, should they dare to make the effort. Unless they do, history will prove the truth of Edmund Burke's warning: "All that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." "It's all about US!" www.nationmakers.com

No recent President has so divided the nation in his first term as has George W. Bush. Billing himself as a "Uniter," Mr. Bush has skirted Congress, played loose with the Constitution and made decisions that harm most of the people, while enriching the elite and corporations. He chose military hawks for Vice President and many cabinet posts. President Bush led the unsubstantiated charge to war on a nation that bore no blame for the destruction of the Trade Towers. He led gross exaggerations about the threat of Iraq to the US, depicting mushroom clouds and chemical weapons delivery capability. He squandered our ability to pursue Al Qaeda in order to remove Saddam Hussein, instead. President Bush has made the world a more dangerous place. He sacrificed the credibility and trust that most nations held toward the United States before his pre-emptive war on Iraq. Questions raised in this book: * Why, when the UN wanted Iraqi oil to help pay for the reconstruction of Iraq, did President Bush insist that US taxpayers pay the whole bill instead? * Why did President Bush protect US oil companies from any fault forever in their handling of Iraqi oil, just two months into the war? (Executive Order 13303, signed May 22, 2003) * Did the 9/11 Commission address the exodus of Saudis from the US three days after the destruction of the Trade Towers, when US air space was shut down to all other flights? * Should Energy planning under Cheney be kept secret from the American people who are affected by his decisions and pay his salary? Is there cronyism when he earns $36 million in 2000 from Halliburton, then as VP helps it win contracts worth billions? * Why do we strengthen bases for 130,000 US troops in Iraq for years to come when we said we weren't going to be occupiers? * Are we supposed to feel safer now with the whole Muslim world angry at us for wrecking and then occupying an Arab country?

This book was conceived based on true facts about the American Government making promises to its military. The offer from the government has always been, since World War II, that if one enters into the military and stays 20 or more years, he and his spouse will be eligible for and receive full, earned, medical benefits for life. The law changed in the sixties and that promise is no longer made or valid. However, it turns out that the promise never was valid. The book looks at the law concerning discrimination of employers to its employees. The Federal Government is the largest employer in the world with both civilian and military employees. The laws on the books, put there by the government, state that employers cannot discriminate concerning areas of pay and retirement, as well as others, however, the others do not address the military and civilian employees. The civilian government employees have always enjoyed the benefit of receiving both retired pay as well as disability pay. The military retirees have never enjoyed both retired pay and disability pay. That is blatant discrimination. But it exists today. When a military retiree applies for disability to the Veterans Administration, and that disability is determined to be service-connected by the V.A., the Veterans Administration will determine the value in dollars to be paid to the military retiree. However, that same amount will be deducted from the reiree pay that the military retiree is receiving for having served 20 or more years of service to his country. As it turns out, the military retiree is paying for his service-connected disability and not the government. The book addresses the above issues and takes a look at how the government spends or gives away its money. The government has always used the excuse that there are not sufficient funds to pay for full medical for all military retirees, but has sufficient funds to send billions of dollars to foreign countries yearly and give many more billions to Fortune 500 companies and others that do not need the funds. There is also tremendous waste, misuse and mishandling of our tax dollars by the government. That is also addressed in the book. Finally, the book closes with some suggestions for saving American funds so that the government can keep its promises to its heroes and its patriots, many of whom have paid the ultimate price for the freedom we, as Americans, all enjoy.

A Mayor's Proclamation is a book about the covert policies of an African American Mayor which are designed to systematically displace the African American population in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. Furthermore, it addresses the mutation of the old Jim Crow laws into today's society and how they are enacted through the institutions of law enforcement, the courts and media. Indeed, the South has risen again. And, it oftentimes hides behind African American leaders and elected officials to advance their agenda; an agenda of institutionalized bigotry and hatred.

The way in which humans govern their communities and nations has always been a complex and sometimes hazardous affair and perhaps the best system has still to evolve. From the earliest of times in tribal communities it made sense to have a division of labours and control of communal affairs was usually delegated to an individual. It meant that the decisions of the governor could enormously affect lives of an individual within that community. As a consequence the powers of the governor were carefully scrutinized for any sign of unfair or selfish behaviour and his decisions were often criticized. The powers of the leader could easily become a point of contention or dispute and that is true in the modern era as it was in prehistoric times. The way power is administered, as well as the accession to power and the succession of power have all been focal points in revolutions and wars throughout the history of humanity. Abuses of power by tribal chieftains up to and including the Monarchs of recent centuries is well documented. An attempt to resolve the problem of power abuse was the motivating factor that resulted in modern democracy. A resolution of power abuses by Monarchs came about in England following the Civil Wars of England. At that time the power to govern was forcibly transferred from the Monarchy to Parliament, a change largely brought about by the military leader Oliver Cromwell. The transfer reduced the power of the King to take unilateral decisions because a majority vote was required to enact laws. This was a major achievement. The transfer of power into the hands of the group also began to bring into relief the deeply rooted divisions between the two major political philosophies left and right, that exists in all societies. The individual differences came into focus during Parliamentary debates. Debaters noted that they were in regular agreement with some of their colleagues on any and all issues while in regular disagreement with others. The electoral process also tended to sharpen those differences as voters realized they felt more comfortable with some candidates than with others. Prior to that it hadn't mattered because the Kings word was law. The transfer of power away from a sometimes tyrannical individual brought with it a major advantage. In the countries that adopted it, there now existed a civilized way to transfer power from one leader to the next. In four years time a new government would be elected without a civil war. The lack of such a mechanism had been the Achilles heel of the strong man type of governing, where there was usually no way to depose a leader without violence. On the other hand it quickly became apparent that real power went to the party with the greatest majority of members. As long as everyone accepted to compromise when the other wing gained power through the vote, the fight over the transfer of powers was avoided and civil wars that had often been fought over this issue were avoided. The original democratic system is now functioning for over three centuries and while it is a distinct improvement over strong man rule it is still far from what people believe democracy is, i.e.; "government of the people by the people". This has still not been achieved in any of the modern democracies. The autocracy of party power is prevalent in all democracies whether they be Democratic Republics or Parliamentary Governments. Under current democratic regimes, the only power the people have, is to choose between candidates placed before them by the political parties for election to their respective houses of representatives. Reliance on the party system entrains a host of inherent evils that are mainly responsible for the weak democratic image. Party leaders imbued with their own wingist philosophy are unsparing in their efforts to gain and retain power. They make promises they know will be difficult to keep and often indulge in undemocratic practices to nominate their own favourite candidates and spend flagrantly on electoral publicity to influence voters. At other times they may strive desperately to appear to give legitimacy to small bands of extremists to gain their support. Once elected they oblige their party members to vote in a way that may be against their beliefs in order to maintain party solidarity, "power". The end result is disillusionment and disgust on the part of voters. While it is easy to be a detractor and to be unsatisfied with the way our democratic systems work it is not easy to find workable remedies and solutions to improve the present system. That is the precise purpose of this essay which offers grounds for considering a revised definition of democracy and offers specific recommendations for improving the way the system operates. Most importantly it provides a way to make the First Minister responsible to the elected representatives who in turn would be directly responsible to the voters. Candidates for election would be chosen within each riding by an electoral committee and not by the party. Once elected they could also be recalled at any time by the voters should their performance be considered unsatisfactory. A majority vote would be required to effect a recall. A better understanding of what democracy currently is and what it should be would go a long way to accepting the need for reforming the system. The current myths surrounding the meaning and definition of democracy are exposed and a revised definition is proposed. Understanding more fully what it means to be "left" or "right" is also extremely important in under standing the democratic process. Political philosophies play a fundamental role in the functioning of the system and a couple of vignettes are offered showing how one may eventually become "right or left wing". In other words, how did we get that way?

Just Watch Me, was the expression used by Trudeau when challenged by a reporter regarding his use of power during the FLQ crisis in Canada in 1970. This book traces the source of Trudeau's political groundings and his world travels after his formal education. It examines his early work in Quebec and the formation of alliances within that community. After being convinced that he could acheive more at the federal level it explores his initial activites and policy changes as the Prime Minister. Just Watch Me demonstrates his politicalization of the federal civil service, RCMP and the military. It expores his moves to consolidate power by centralizing it, one of the key aspects of socialism. It explores his lack of principles and ethics and his revisionist thinking regarding Canadian history. The book explores the moral makeup of politicians prevalent in Canada, and other democracies as well, and seeks to reveal their shortcomings. These character flaws eventually become embedded in the party and subvert political proccess. Trudeau altered Canadian political institutions and the bureaucracy to moribund shells and bloated francophone reservoirs respectively, filled with political hacks, party loyalists and party bag men incapable of performing their functions. Trudeau employed reverse discrimination in order to favor one ethnic group over others. He went so far as to embed the mechanism to do so in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. His brand of socialism transformed segments of Canadian culture from independence thus stripping them of their self-reliance and self-respect. He used his power to interfere in the economy, institute unnecessary social policies, drive down production and plunge the country into debt and deficits unknown except in wartime. He was in constant conflict with other levels of government and was incapable of developing policies and plans that were good for Canadians and Canada. Internationally he oversaw the transformation of a middle power to a little power. His anti-Americanism and pro-communist leanings put Canada at odds with her closest ally and neighbour. Trudeau's anti-military and anti-nuclear stance resulted in the eventual neutering of the Canadian military. In the end he squandered billions on bilingualism, the bureaucracy, the arts and Quebec. His governments were only about elevating Quebec and Quebecers to political power. In summary, he revolutionized Canada while most of Canada slumbered on. This book exhorts Canadians to take back political power through the only tool they have left, the vote. It asks them to carefully examine their political canidates and eliminate those whose character is lacking or unlikely to withstand the assualt that the party can bring to bear. It encourages Canadians to reform their political institutions and finally to reserve the trend towards socialism; a trend that can only be destructive as evidenced in so many countries that have tried it.

George W. Bush: In the Whirlwind examines the beginning and early years of the Presidency of the 43rd President of the United States. New author Bryan LaBerge provides a mix of political savvy with an outside Washington DC common man perspective. In the Whirlwind explores a broad range of events and political topics that run the span of years from the 2000 Republican primary election through the mid-term elections of 2002. Some think of Bush as not up to the task. Some believe him to be a product of the September 11 attacks. Still others think him an illegitimate President. In the Whirlwind takes these issues head on and answers them from a political outsider's perspective. Unlike many current books about George W. Bush, In the Whirlwind looks at the whole presidency of George W. Bush and not just one defining moment. The book provides the reader a big picture historical viewpoint that will leave them wanting more.

The Author examines the current state of the Canadian Forces, after what he describes as four decades of malignant neglect, and concludes that it is not capable of executing the roles and tasks assigned under the government's policy as outlined in the Defence White Paper 1994. Furthermore, he examines the Canadian foreign policy, from which defence policy is derived, and concludes that it does not address the current and future threats to Canada and Canadians. The threats to Canada today and in the future are explored in detail and the means to counter them are examined. The author also explores the relationship the Canadian military has to the UN, NATO, and our closest ally the US. He finds that all of them need serious revision. However, to do so a complete and detailed analysis of our foreign policy is necessary in the new world of disorder following the tragic events of 9/11. Internal and external threats are revealed and discussed as well as how to deter them. Coleman explains why the current series of town hall meetings across the country is wholly inadequate and calls for a major foreign policy review. This is necessary in order to respond correctly and adequately to the US request for participation in the Missle Defense System. Also, in his view, our traditional interface with the UN, and NATO, particularly where peacekeeping is involved needs revision. He calls for necessary changes in the Department of National Defence Headquarters (NDHQ) structure and the military organization across the country. He explains why NDHQ needs to be disintergrated and replaced with a dual reporting system to the minister. Further, he presents rational arguments for the "real" unification of the three military forces into a "marine" like structure in order to respond appropriately and adequately to international terrorism and international violence that is on the rise. He goes further and outlines a new organizational structure that reduces overhead, executives, commands, and management levels in order to truly make the military and headquarters more efficient, effective, and economical. He is clear that only by taking these measures will we regain the respect of our allies and our enemies as well as increase our influence in the international forums where it has been slowly eroding. The transfer of search and rescue and VIP operations to private industry will free up military billets for military functions and generate jobs and profits for private industry in these roles. These tasks, in his view, are essentially non-military tasks. Military search and rescue and VIP flights can be handled by the Marines. Also, he believes that peacekeeping should be transferred to DFAIT where the responsibility lies with more emphasis on early intervention so that technical experts, humanitarian efforts, medical assistance, law, order, and justice can be maintained rather than re-constructed after civil war or worse has destroyed the infrastructure and institutions. Peacemaking, however, should remain the responsibility of DND where the new structure, the new equipment, and the new training will improve our current delinquent approach to the problem. The Reserve will be tasked with the role of the defence of Canada which will give it purpose, finances, training, equipment, and a structure to effect it which currently does not exist. Coleman makes a compelling case for the review of foreign defence policy and the restructuring of the Canadian military. He exposes the problems and proposes solutions. He takes no prisoners! In his review it becomes clear that Canada and Canadians no longer "stand on guard".

Three Generations Ahead is a comprehensive approach to the problems facing mankind and its progeny, as well as the personal and cultural barriers that keep us from resolving them. Written for the layman, Three Generations Ahead sorts through the blizzard of conflicting news reports and scientific and political opinions to establish a framework of the problems based on their impact. First, global problems such as population growth, environmental degradation and rapid climatic change are identified and explored. Following these is an exploration of the international and regional problems that torment so much of humanity and consume so much of mankind's attention and resources. Next, Mr. Fager explores the psychological and cultural factors that act as barriers to our resolution of these problems, the factors that many of us aren't even aware of that influence our behavior and determine our own, and our national leaders' decisions. Finally, he presents realistic recommendations on how to individually and collectively address these problems. Written without political or pedantic bias, Mr. Fager's Three Generations Ahead presents a refreshingly honest appraisal of these problems and the actions of nations and leaders to address them. Ever mindful of the consequences of these problems for our children and grandchildren he places the responsibility for these problems and their consequences squarely where they belong, at the feet of not only the world's political and cultural leaders but with every individual citizen as well. Often blunt in his criticism of cultural and political institutions and leaders that ignore or exacerbate these problems, he slices through much of their rhetoric to expose not only their failures to act to bring any of these problems under control, but their deliberate actions to both mislead the average person into supporting decisions and policies that contribute to their growth.

This current book describes my belief (with input from a great many people) as to how this country got to where it is today, where I fear it is going, and my absolute terror that the American people will elect Hillary in 2008. Why terror at her election? Because that will launch the country toward a totalitarian government. We no longer can believe that our elected officials are patriots. They are more acclimated to power and less concerned about the people and the country's history. The book is a departure from the others. It came to mind when watching a TV discussion group talking about whether Hillary would run for President in 2004. I was terrified that she would run and win. I then thought about it and decided I had some excellent reasons why she would not run in 2004 but would wait until 2008. The book goes into depth concerning the dangers to the Country of electing Hillary. My first three books: There Are No Bad Kids, "Never Underestimate the Arrogance or Stupidity of Government and High On Life were all published by 1st Books Library. The first was written as a result of a traumatic experience in our lives and the second describes what I believe created that trauma. "High On Life" creates a completely different atmosphere. The title came as the result of one of my children becoming hooked on cocaine. I faithfully believe that no one needs a narcotic to get high -- Life is the only high necessary!
