Introducing the FOCUSED INTERVIEWING system. Finally, an interviewing technique which is designed for street encounters! Are you a: - Working cop on patrol?
- Criminal Investigator?
- Community Policing Officer?
- Drug Interdiction Officer?
- Federal Agent?
- Probation/Parole Officer?
- Corrections Officer?
- Polygraph Examiner?
- Private Investigator?
If so, you can't afford to be without the information contained within the Focused Interviewing system. There are no mandatory "steps" to learn, there is nothing to memorize and this system may be employed in the field, rather than in a formal interview room. There are hundred of thousands of contacts made daily between law enforcement officers and citizens. Only a very small percentage of those contacts occur in a formal interrogation room setting. The rest take place in a dynamic, fluid environment. The Focused Interviewing system empowers the law enforcement officer to be able to obtain useful information from witnesses, incriminating statements from suspects and ultimately, complete confessions. The Focused Interviewing system is applicable to new recruits and veterans alike. You have never seen an interviewing technique presented in quite this way before! The Focused Interviewing system is a unique method of street level interviewing which encompasses both the psychological and physiological dynamics of interviewing in a non-structured, fluid setting. It is designed for working law enforcement patrol officers, Community Policing officers, criminal investigators, corrections officers, probation/parole officers, federal agents, private investigators, polygraph examiners and those interested in interviewing. The Focused Interviewing system is easy to learn, easy to use and is easy to teach to new recruits and veterans alike. It is an exceptionally good technique for a Field Training Officer to share with a trainee and lends itself well to an academy setting. This technique is differentiated from the formal, structured techniques being taught which emphasize the memorization of "steps" in the interview process.

Briefly in summary, The Witch's Brew, explores analytically the subtleties in the natural, and cultural creation of crime - the criminal personality which to some extent greatly shows what is, and has long been, societies historical needs. Without question as well, it shows and vividly explains society's yearning and glorification of sensationalism and aberrant behavior as a source of gratifying entertainment. The book tends to analyze all such behaviors and interest so as to show how it is culturally maintained for social gratification. Further, throughout this analysis it shows how factions throughout the world have swapped good for evil at the perils of some, while, ironically presenting the appearance of good for others. The prideful theme of the book emphasizes the need for educator's and scientist to dedicate their involvement in intellectual pursuits while highlighting the different levels of intelligence and enlightenment in the different kinds of intelligence. Throughout this endeavor we hope finally to have shown the detrimental affects in the abuse of welfare and welfare institutions to include our civil services, while appropriately likening these detrimental affects to the abhorrent affects of America's slavery legacy. The Author of this book, as has been inferred, hopes, of course, to have provided the world and especially America with the need to realign its educational premises, with the enlightenment of scientific acknowledge, but moreover for sure, to open it's venues to that Macrocosm that produces the scientific microcosm. While this sounds highfalutin it is treated with the utmost simplicity throughout the book. We need to wake-up while whirling around the universe on our gigantic space ship and take a look out the window at how our world is shrinking - how it has, and continues to change. And simply allow our mine's eye to sore - to encompass all of the amazing wonders that's there for our bountiful enrichment. Throughout we have respectfully demanded that we allow ourselves to behold the wonders of God's creation in the overall greater energy scenario, provided by the all seeing eye, in it's highly programmed forces, that's far beyond the wildest imagination of our Merlin's, Edgar Casey's and Nostradamus's.

From MUSKEG to MURDER begins by chronicling the epic struggles and enormous challenges of the author's ancestors as they struggled to scrounge a living under the oppressive regime of the Tzar in 19th Century Ukraine. They finally fled their desperate situation, eventually settling in the free and serene environs of Canada. As a boy in rural British Columbia in the mid 20th Century, Andrew Maksymchuk is enthralled by the stories of his immigrant family's escape from oppression, and he dreams of fighting injustice. That dream becomes reality when, at 21, he is initiated into the Ontario Provincial Police Force. Sent to serve in remote Northwestern Ontario, he learns his craft in its mining centres, pulp and paper industry communities, Indian reservations, native settlements and boom towns. From MUSKEG to MURDER follows "Maks" as he tracks criminals on foot across frozen muskeg, by canoe and speedboat along breathtaking waterways, by rail along the CNR's ribbons of steel, and by airplane above the vastness of the Canadian Shield. In makeshift courtrooms, primitive cabins and isolated outposts, he overcomes limited training, deficient supervision, poor transportation and communication resources and the clash of cultures with ingenuity, dedication and humour. The author's willingness to share the most painful and intimate aspects of his life in a candid and unvarnished fashion serves to forge a solid bond with the reader. Family, friends, community and duty become entwined against a backdrop of a changing Canada as Maks shares his experiences and insights into the unique place of the OPP in Canadian police service.
