El Buteo jamaicensis o 'Redtailed Hawk', nombre con el que se le conoce más comúnmente, es un buteo de gran importancia en la cultura de Norteamérica, tanto en el pasado como en la actualidad. Esta rapaz, más similar a una pequeña águila que a un buteo y considerada como símbolo de la suerte para muchas tribus nativas es y sigue siendo todo un símbolo en la actualidad, siendo una de las rapaces más abundantes en este continente y más conocidas, ya que para muchos americanos, este buteo es su primer contacto con las aves de presa y la naturaleza.

En Estados Unidos, goza de una enorme popularidad como maestro de aquellos que desean adentrarse en el mundo de la cetrería, siendo la principal elección de estos aspirantes a cetreros como ave de iniciación, aunque muchos expertos y maestros consideran al Buteo jamaicensis como el ave por excelencia en la cetrería. Es realmente imposible pensar en cetrería en cuanto se refiere a Estados Unidos, como uno de los países líderes en la práctica de este arte y deporte, sin pensar en el Buteo de Cola Roja.

A collection of inspirational writings dedicated to the trials, tribulations, and "tails" of animal rescue. The sole purpose of this collection is to raise awareness, educate the public, and procure funds for pet charities. All of these beautiful, inspirational writings are shared in the hopes of spreading information about the plight of animals and the valiant effort of those who help to rescue them; invoking compassion and empathy; instigating action. All the proceeds are to be donated and dispersed among the named pet charities: Critter Haven, Inc., Almost Home Dachshund Rescue Society, Internet Miniature Pinscher Service, Pit Bull Rescue Central, and Hearts United For Animals.

If someone would have told me ten years ago I'd be writing a book about my experiences living with a one hundred thirty five pound wolf dog in suburban Houston, I would most definitely have asked them what planet they had just come from. Even though I always have had a warm heart for animals in general, I could never have imagined taking on a creature whose cunning and spirited attitude would keep me on my toes "twenty-four-seven".

This book has an interesting and natural storyline from the rescue phase to daily up and down clashes of acceptance by one another; a person's ultimate one on one relationship; and the spiritual connection between man and animal.

This book was written with the thought and admiration for the wolf dogs and their owners all over the world who both go the extra mile trying to co-exist in a world that has little understanding of this type of bond and relationship.
