It was January 6, 1999. The twelfth day of Christmas. Epiphany. Let there be light. There was light. The joy of returning home after a glittering holiday with family in Europe. The spin from the trip opened the way for an optimistic state of mind and body as the new year unfolded.

Stroke! Before the day of Epiphany 1999 proceeded into the annals of the past, darkness struck.

Reggie and Gil had just gone to bed for the night, lights out. Barely an hour went by when the world changed. Reggie suffered a stroke, "I can't move," she cried. "Gil, help me!"

This is a saga of persistance, perseverance, positive attitude, depression, dedication and inseparable love. How these ingredients came together for a powerful potion of energy and tough love.

This is how Reggie overwhelmed her stroke with a near one hundred percent recovery.

Children love animals. They bond, smile, and chuckle when a wet nose touches their hand. Children with just about any physical, emotional, or developmental problem may be helped tremendously by those animal touches. Therapy with horses has been recognized as a benefit of medical treatment since 460 BC. Hippotherapy (from the Greek word "hippos", meaning horse) or equine therapy, are based on the idea that the rhythmic repetitive movements of the horse work to improve cognitive skills, balance, posture, and strength in a disabled rider. The self-esteem, emotional bonds, and trust of a horse benefits their mind, body, and soul of not only the child, but also their parents. Parents who truly want to improve their child's world, a world that may include wheelchairs or walkers, see the complete satisfaction on their child's face as they ride a horse.

The idea of a manual covering sling suspension therapy initially came to me about 1974 and a few years later I decided to include amputee therapy. The manual provides rough sketches of the techniques which are categorized so that cervical joint, arm and shoulder, lumbar spine joint, hip, knee, foot and ankle injuries as well as amputee therapy are all covered.

Sling supension therapy and amputee therapy are two modalities which have been the practice of therapists and prosthetists to look after. Sling suspension therapy is a well established form of physical therapy since it contributes towards the restoration of joint motions and tissue stretching. The principles explaining the subject of suspension therapy are described in several textbooks, but common to all is a lack of good illustrations accompanied by minimal text. The purpose of the manual SLING SUSPENSION THERAPY is to illuminate and guide.

SLING SUPENSION THERAPY provides a good variety of techniques for sling situations with exercise choice more clearly defined as well as illustrations of the equipment required for these techniques. The manual would not be out of place on the book display or library shelf of every hospital medical library, prosthetic shop, and sports injuries and physiotherapy departments around the world.
