I have written Diabetes / My Life with emotions from the deepest recesses of my heart, and have shared my innermost feelings and fears of being an insulin dependent diabetic for over half of my life.

I would be foolish to try and tell you that I am not afraid of this disease, because I am.

Every little ache, pain, twitch or strange feelings makes me wonder what is happening now?? Where wil this lead me, and what can, and will, I be able to do about it.

While there still is no cure for this chronic illness, I sincerely hope that you, or your loved ones, can learn and benefit from my experiences.

There is an abundance of material available that has been written by physicians, educators, dieticians, etc...But, there is nothing to compare with the personal side of this chronic illness....as can be written by someone who has walked along the same path that you are headed down...

DIABETES EPIDEMIC and YOU is not a cliché! It is a mandate for the awakening of the "silent" millions worldwide with "normal" fasting blood sugars and undiagnosed diabetes. If you have a "normal" fasting blood sugar, YOU may be one of the undiagnosed millions. YES, I do mean YOU.

Since Hippocrates' time, earliest diagnosis provided the greatest opportunity for treatment and cure. This book highlights the earliest identification of type 2 diabetes by utilizing the insulin assay with the oral glucose tolerance.

My cumulative experience of 14,384 oral glucose tolerances with insulin assays established the earliest diagnosis of prediabetes and diabetes when the blood sugars were normal. Prediabetes is type 2 diabetes. The tolerances were separated according to age groups, from 3Ð13 years to 81Ð90+ years. Each group was further divided into normal glucose tolerances, impaired glucose tolerances, and diabetes mellitus glucose tolerances. YOU, upon testing by oral glucose tolerance, will be in one of these categories.

This resource of oral glucose tolerance with insulin assay is unequaled in world medical literature. The importance of early diagnosis is that the clinical pathology of diabetes – mainly heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, cataracts, erectile dysfunction, and other metabolic disorders – occurs not only in those with advanced diabetes, but also in those with "normal" blood sugars.

YES, this could happen to YOU! When early diagnosis is coupled with specific therapy, the DIABETES EPIDEMIC will be arrested and then reversed. Early diagnosis is the goal of this book – beginning with YOU.

Dana's dad is disillusioned with God, but something in his relationship with Father Wes and in this troubled situation is drawing him to God. The story reveals Dana and her family through her dad's perspective, from happy and carefree beginning through a three-year journey of suffering, quiet triumph, and personal awakening.

Dana's Disease is based on the true accounts of the struggles of Dana Kanerva to be a healthy normal child, from soon after her third birthday to days before her sixth birthday.

Currently, over fifteen million Americans are struggling, day-by-day, hoping for a healthier life and a means to shed massive amounts of weight. Morbid obesity is a deadly epidemic causing over 300,000 deaths annually and is second only to cigarette smoking as the leading cause of preventable death in the United States. Sufferers of morbid obesity "are sick and tired" of being "sick and tired". Feelings of desperation often lead them to attempt anything to lose 100 pounds plus of extra weight they carry, which makes them easy prey to fraudulent diet scams and untruthful advertising practices. For those who suffer with the disease of morbid obesity and have been unsuccessful at their diet attempts -- there is another answer. In this book, the answer to a better and longer life is not a quick-fix diet nor a cosmetic procedure, but a medically accepted and the only proven method of weight loss for the devastating disease of morbid obesity. The method is properly known as bariatric surgery. Throughout the pages of A Complete Guide to Obesity Surgery, readers will be informed of the many advances that have been made in bariatric surgery over the past forty-plus yeears, in a language they can understand. A Complete Guide to Obesity Surgery also provides a truthful representation of bariatric surgery, including the potentially dangerous risks and the many benefits from a successful surgery. In addition, the many myths regarding the causes of obesity and the surgical treatment of the disease are explained in detail.

One of the goals of this book will be to provide potential surgery candidates and ther family members, the tools needed to properly weigh the risk of remaining morbidly obese versus the possible surgical complications. Readers will be informed of the surgical procedures available, how they promote weight loss, along with the advantages and disadvantages of each procedure. A Complete Guide to Obesity Surgery allows patients to gain valuable insight into surgery. This book provides readers with a step-by-step guide to researching a surgeon to postoperative care and includes postoperative diet instructions and the development of a personalized exercise prescription. The knowledge gained by reading this book will allow potential surgery candidates and their family members to form educated opinions. This ensures that each person will become prepared for the changes that will be necessary to reduce side effects and improve outcomes. Patient testimonials and pictures will provide amazing insight of the ups and downs through their surgical experience and their new lives.

Readers will find this book to be an informative, practical self-help guide to postoperative exercise and nutrition programs. A Complete Guide to Obesity Surgery is a well-organized comprehensive toolkit addressing the many issues that surround the surgical treatment of obesity.
