My inspiration for this book was my son John. He would go out and ride his bike up and down the street and I could clearly see that, in his mind, it was not a bike at all. He would put on his cowboy hat and boots and ride his "horse" or even stop at the filling station to fill up the "truck". In today's world children have so much technology that they don't need to use their imagination. This book was written to help children to see the endless possibilities that are available to them within their own imagination!

By opening this book, your child will discover a new level of learning, but at the same time become familiar with everyday subjects that show themselves in a different light. In addition to learning the alphabet and basic phonics skills, your child's mind will be open to the world of things, just waiting to be uncovered. There are twists and turns on every page that will train your child to identify encounters in their lives, but at the same time be enjoyable for the whole family. As each page is turned, what seemed to be true on the previous page will surprisingly change into a different object that begins with the same letter. Your young reader's mind actively learns the skill of association while acquiring new vocabulary effortlessly. As your child's first teacher, you know that one strategy to engage active listening is to keep the child guessing. The reading material presented in this book will be so inspirational, it will keep the both of you laughing, giggling, and interacting page after page. The vivid illustration is another great tool to engage your young scholar. Show him or her how things might look dissimilar when our perspective changes. There are also cultural and scientific elements in the book, such as a hut in Asia or an octopus camouflaging in pebbles, which allow readers to see the world a little differently. I will recommend this book to anyone who works with young children. The journey to learning the English alphabet has just been made easier!

Written by a grandfather for his grandchildren, this 28 page, brightly illustrated, fun-to-read children's book is perfect for parents to read to their young children. Somewhat older children that are avid readers will enjoy reading it by themselves also. The illustrations are uncomplicated, yet the vibrant colors and sharp contrasts draw the listener’s attention and give his/her imagination free reign. The main and only character in the story is a young, happy, carefree little train. He tells his own story about his remarkably adventurous winter. He is happy at the beginning and at the end … and throughout. There is no grown-up underlying message from the presumably wise and experienced to the presumably unwise and inexperienced. It is more a poetic epic than a short story. The text size is large-lettered and the words are simple. Yet many of the words and phrases (e.g., "powbango" & "twitch me silly") are invented and most of the spelling is unique ("... bumpded dee twee..." and "... onto dee twack...") to make it fun to read and to listen to. The unique language and pronunciation means that the reader automatically and effortlessly animates the story. It comes alive naturally and, with it, so does the main character. By the end that "littl’ twain" is your friend for life. Children will enjoy it over and over again.

American Odyssey, a novel set in the not-too-distant future, is the chilling story of a totalitarian America that has plummeted to a nation set on world domination. The protagonist, Herb, is a young "everyman", a schoolteacher. He falls in love with a colleague who introduces him to the resistance movement. A series of personal misfortunes, including the death of his soldier twin, impel him to become a dedicated activist against the dictatorship. His group is soon exposed, and he and his love, Tony, become fugitives. She is soon killed. At that point Herb's odyssey begins as he travels the nation in search of "the movement". The preponderance of the novel reveals the state of the nation and of the people. He comes into contact with a cross-section of the United States. They are men and women -- laborers, farmers, professionals, students..They are Black and white and Hispanic, and each is unique in the manner in which his/her life has been degraded under the dictatorship. At the beginning they are impoverished, fearful, dispirited. In time, as the economic crisis deepens and battlefield losses mount, there are changes in the populace. Apathy turns to anger and then to resistance. Herb becomes reconnected with the opposition to the dictatorship. The American people in large numbers, disheartened by the desperate quality of their lives, simply "opt-out" of the system. The military, too, appalled by the unending wars and bloodshed, also becomes disaffected. Millions converge upon Washington, D.C. the dictatorship falls, and the foundation is laid for the re-establishment of democracy in the United States.
