My book traces the life of a newborn fawn born on a deer farm from the fawn’s perspective. It starts out from his birth with his twin sister and tells how he is changed from a wild deer to a tame deer. Farmer Joe bottle feeds and loves the fawn very much and takes over being a mother figure for the fawn. Next the fawn is introduced to real deer feed (corn, oats, molasses, and vitamins). He still is bottle-fed for at least four months and has a lot of special attention and love. As the fawn grows and loses his beautiful spots, he develops his first set of antlers. The book describes how every year he will lose his antlers and grow new ones even bigger. A lot of “DEER” terms are used in the book to educate the young reader to the life of a deer and how he develops, such as buck, doe, antler, button buck, deer velvet, points, tines, etc. The photographs in the book are the actual pictures taken on our deer farm.

This is an adventure story told by Goosey, a goofy, gorgeous golden Labrador doggie who lives with me and my husband, Peter, in the Cayman Islands in the Western Caribbean. Goosey tells us about his life and travels to Sri Lanka on a mystery magic carpet ride to collect a turkey called Beauty (a speckled blue-and-gray turkey), who was my brother Duncan’s pet sixty years ago in Sri Lanka, when he was ten years old. Goosey and Beauty continue on the magic carpet ride to Jamaica to visit Miss Patsy, who lived with us in the Cayman Islands when Goosey was a small puppy. Goosey and Beauty continue to the Cayman Islands, and Beauty returns to Sri Lanka. They have both travelled round the world on the magic carpet and had a wonderful trip.

This book is an answer to children that requested books about animals, which live in their neighbourhood, be made available for them. They also requested that the autobiographical style be used because they felt that it would be easier to understand.

There is a space between the print and the picture. This was done so that the children with learning disabilities will not be hindered or distracted by pictures close to the words. The pictures can easily be covered. As children explore the life cycle of a fox, they will also identify with the settings and the tale of an animal growing up.

I Am a Fox is the second in a series of stories that explore the life cycles of various animals that populate the Canadian Boreal forest. The author intends to write ten books dealing with northern dwelling animals to complete this series. The books will be written in the same format but will feature the works of different artists working in their chosen mediums.

A devoted friendship that would be tested by physicalities, nature, and unforeseen circumstances, and because of this rare bond, the reader can share in what true dedication is all about, the true meaning of friendships, and what is meant to be dedicated to a friend for life and may want to participate in relationships. Who would have thought that a hound dog, who normally loves to chase birds and is even known as a hunting dog, would come to love and care for a bird. From the beginning, she would show compassion and care, a true but rare connection between the two. The bird would sing each day a song of thanks dedicated to the faithful dog, who would show a difference in what nature had instilled in its existence; maybe the small dog did not come to realize that dogs and birds are not the best of friends. What a stubborn puppy, what a loving puppy. Her innocence would unknowingly direct her to protect the bird; it would become her duty and mission to continue to observe and protect her newfound feathered friend.
