The standard SUDOKU puzzle is a grid of 81 cells made up of nine rows, nine columns and subdivided into nine 3x3 blocks. In a SUDOKU puzzle, some cells of the grid come with the numbers 1 to 9 already inserted. The objective is to fill in all blank cells with numbers from 1 to 9 in such a way that each row, each column and each 3x3 block of the grid contains all numbers from 1 to 9. 'Explained SUDOKU' is the follow-up of the first book 'SUDOKU Training' (of same author, published by Trafford Publishing in June 2007). It presents concisely the Rules, Techniques and a Uniform Method to solve logically and systematically SUDOKU puzzles at many levels of difficulty, illustrated through 30 hard or very hard SUDOKU puzzles with Solutions fully explained. The book is divided into 3 parts: Part A — Brief description of the Terminology and Techniques used to solve SUDOKU puzzles. Part B — Possible steps of a Uniform Method to solve logically and systematically SUDOKU puzzles. Description of the new concept 'Extended Chain Filling'. Part C — Fully explained Solutions of 30 hard or very hard SUDOKU puzzles and 'How to get benefit from them'. The author hopes that the Explained Solutions described in this book will soon become a standard presentation for SUDOKU Solutions when these solutions are presented to others for assessment. With this standard, computer software can be allowed to use, the speed of solving is not a major factor but the logic thinking of the solver is more important as it can be proved and assessed. The standard SUDOKU puzzle is a grid of 81 cells formed by 9 rows and 9 columns, and divided into 9 3x3 blocks. A limited number of cells are already filled in with numbers from 1 to 9. The objective is to fill in all blank cells with numbers from 1 to 9 in such a way that each row, each column and each 3x3 block of the grid contains all numbers from 1 to 9.

The WareBox™ Book of Sudoku was written to help readers solve puzzles on a consistent basis. The appreciation of the WareBox™ Template, which is included in the book, will increase as the difficulty of the puzzles increases. This book was created to help the reader understand and effectively use the included template to solve puzzles. Beginner, intermediate and advanced solvers will appreciate the organization the template provides. The WareBox™ strategy to solve Sudoku puzzles requires a paradigm shift in thinking. Most strategies to solve Sudoku puzzles use a form of writing possible correct number options into the individual cells of the puzzle. The WareBox™ strategy uses logical deduction to eliminate numbers that can not be correct. The number that remains after the effective use of logic, deductive reasoning and a series of eliminations is the correct solution; no guessing is used. The WareBox™ Template was conceived as an effective way to store information concerning Sudoku puzzles. Each puzzle has a unique solution that can be solved using logic plus accurate and efficient record keeping. When the author taught mathematics he trained his students to use tables, grids and diagrams to store information for future reference. This information could be recalled later to create equations to solve word problems. The WareBox™ Template effectively holds information so the reader can identify the solving techniques required to solve puzzles.

Eijidoku is based on the same principles as sudoku. "Su" means number whereas "Eiji" means letter. The word "doku" means single. The big difference is that Eijidoku is more involved and a lot more fun. Not only do you have to work out the grid, but you also have to find words, sentences, anagrams, etc. from the 9 x 9 grid. Each puzzle is laid out like a Sudoku grid with letters not numbers in the boxes. Once the 9 x 9 grid is completed, the next task is to find the words or anagrams (jumbled up letters that make up a word) in the shaded areas. Inside the book is an A-Z chart to help find the correct letters from the shaded areas. To make it easier and clearer, the book has been printed in a larger size. It is also uniquely spiral bound so that each puzzle lays flat, making it easier to work on.
