Born without the ability to speak, a young boy grows up with no identity. He is unable to communicate with others, until one night when he wanders into an old cemetery. Inside he finds purpose. As the years pass and his appearance deteriorates, he becomes more of a local spook story. Intrigued, one man sets out to discover why this old man runs through the cemetery late at night.

Lange has recently returned from a tour of duty with an oil exploration and pipeline company in the Near East. He had been incarcerated in an Arab jail for a number of months under almost inhumane conditions. Wrongly.

While in the Arabian jail, to preserve his sanity, Lange had developed the ability to induce OOBE's. He didn't understand what was happening to him, he thought they were merely hallucinations.

The setting is the Gulf Coast of Mississippi in the late 1980's when the U.S. oil giants had pulled out of the Arabian Gulf area. He was now back in the States looking for a job.

Rhyme, a lovely young woman, is the ward and 'strong right arm' of George Westwood, an entrepreneur involved with the development of a fabulous new technology that turns out to be a system of communication with other time frames.

Rhyme hires Lange and is attracted to him in spite of the differences in their ages. She is a student of the occult and lays the Tarot cards about Lange. They promise her 'Happiness and Joy'.

Rhyme seduces Lange and decides he is her soul mate. She had been striving for OOBE's for a number of years, unsuccessfully.

She learns that Lange can achieve these conditions. They work on it together, very successfully.

On their first 'real journey' they manage a trip into the far future where they are put in touch with a team of doctors who assist them in rejuvenating Lange so he eventually becomes the same age as Rhyme.

On their next attempt they visit an 'Orientation Platform' in the Astral World where they meet with Rhyme's grandmother, Cynthia, who, before her death, had been a major factor in Rhyme's early life. Rhyme's mother had died at childbirth.

Lange introduces Rhyme to his best friend, Roddy McPhail and Roddy's wife, Lottie. Roddy goes to work with Lange at the laboratory.

Lange moves in with Rhyme. There are a number of excursions into the Astral realms. On two they are given rides in a UFO. The first of these is an excursion into the adjoining territories of 'Athe'. On another occasion they take a friend along and they are given a tour of the two lover levels. The 'Orientation' is on the 'third level'.

Lange and Rhyme move in with George, who is a bachelor with a housekeeper, Katrina, whom Rhyme considers her best friend.

They do get married at the end of this book and leave for a short honeymoon in New Orleans. This is where 'Book Two' begins.

This story adheres strictly to the "Hermetic Tradition." There is a rather complete explanation of these tenets and the story does not deviate for their principles.

Also included are seven treatises, the result of a number of meditations by Lange, and by Rhyme, independently and together.

The present book Fragmentos de una Enseñanza [Fragments of a Teaching] is the result of my conversations held with the Master P. for a period of fourteen years, covering different subjects of the Occult or Esoteric Philosophy which many students are familiar. I like the psychological aspects...daring subject matter. Writer ambitiously explored deep internal conflicts of main character. Opening chapter set-up is intriguing. Prose clean and clear. Delves deeply into shadow we all repress.

Years ago street gangs roamed around mostly at night, but there was no mystery concerning their activity. They just believed they were kings of certain areas always reminding outsiders they didn't belong. Their doctrine was simple and to the point; stick together and there was strength and it was always better to be part of something than part of nothing.

Occult philosophy can only be determined by the kind of clan you are part of. Some agencies believe in membership sacrifice of business to pleasure. With this in mind I was able to put together a story of ceremonial worshippers belonging to a class called "Zebra". They were purchasable for dishonorable assignments by a secret bureaucracy.

When you read Stairway of Sand it may not seem so unreal - in fact, some might honestly believe I have knowledge of such a group - not realizing that I'm just an author with imagination.

I share, through this book of fables, ideas of how to resolve challenges and limitations put in place by the ego. We can achieve literally anything - as children who believe in stories know.

When I work with clients I see the solution for them in exactly the same way. In effect, a story seems to come through space and time to transmit a personal message - and its language is childlike and fun. By not focusing at all on the symptoms, just the solution, the ego is by-passed, so the healing can be instant.

As Fabling is my name-sake, I derive enjoyment from writing in the true fable fashion - so I am open to receiving inspiration from non-human sources. People are always more relaxed to hear a truth about themselves when they can see an object, plant or animal behaving similarly. By using fables as a subtle teaching tool I know the message gets delivered because days later people will say - "I was thinking about that article" or "that story helped me, thank you." The most important fable in this book is, I believe, "Fire the Pirate!" because if the pirate or ego had already been fired, there wouldn't be the need to be a creative when delivering an important message.

I also wanted to share with readers, especially young adults, how important it is to protect their child-like sense of wonder and make it work for them, to keep life magical and up-beat. I have never understood why adults like to let go of their ability to sense what is not necessarily physical, when it is our invisible guides who often are the wisest. By exposing a taste of what my sessions look like, and how I dialogue with nature, I also share a method of living which is holistic, with no negative side effects.

This is a tale set in thirteenth century England, and woven about long existent techniques in the conjurations of both holy angels and evil demons, and involves a boy of nine followed to his seventeenth year, a profound Hebrew Kabbalist, a beautiful witch and her mysterious daughter, a wicked bishop of the Catholic Church, phantom wolves, revivifactions of maggot-riddled cadavers, and sufficient terrors to fright the most tenacious child and parent alike, one reading while the other ( not necessarily the child) listens and bites his or her fingernails to the trembling quick.
