Regardless of age, we each live simultaneously as a child and a parent while at home, work, and play. Receiving divine instruction daily, each person remains forever a child in the universe. If you have children, if you have employees or colleagues, if you have friends and family, if you have a spouse or partner, if you aspire to align with Self, you are also a parent, nurturing growth.

According to the sacred contract, each of us is charged to nourish the heart of any child entrusted into our care, support every child's development, count the blessings each child brings, cutivate goodness and light, remain true to the divine plan, and facilitate lush growth.

Integrating expertise in child development, parenting, and spirituality, the author discusses parenting moments from infancy through the toddler years. Each moment is divided into three sections: an anecdote illustrating a teachable moment in a child's development, a discussion of the developmental concept involved, and an application of the life lesson at a higher level. In addition, prayers are interspersed throughout the book to provide wishes, guidance, and encouragement from the child at heart. A parenting mantra is repeated as a reminder to relax, breathe, and realize that teachable moments are a part of healthy development. Activities are provided to assist the reader's personal development.

Each child holds the seed of a parent. Within each parent is the heart of a child. May this book guide you to learn the lessons of child-heart and parent wisely, nurturing the spirit of those entrusted into your care according to the sacred contract.

If I died tomorrow will my child be okay? This is a question I find myself asking almost everyday. Food, clothing and shelter are not at stake. I simply wanted a means to communicate.

Each day as my child grow; there are life's lessons that he will need to know. This is why I very carefully wrote Momma's Life Lessons. The more one knows the more one grows.

As I was writing, I began to think about how I learned these lessons. Many of these lessons, I learned as a young adult myself, from my mother and other lessons, I learned from some other young adults going through some critical stage in their life.

At this point, I began to realize that not only could my child benefit from this book but other young adults as well.

There may be parents or other guardians that may not share with their children as much as they would like and this book given as a gift or maybe housed in a library or bookstore may be just what a child would like. This book will help communicate life's lessons whether it's shared with a child by an adult or whether a child just happens to stumble upon it on their own. Still, there will be many lessons our children must learn on their own.

How will you be remembered? Legacy is the transference of things from the past. Though often thought of as a gift of property, it has the potential to be so much more. Legacy is a gift of learning and a gift of attitudes. It reflects our ideals and our convictions. It is consigned through the things we so and the choices we make. We will each pass on a legacy more profound than we can imagine.

We have the opportunity to empower current and future generations to set and manage the direction of their lives, according to their aspirations. We can pass on the ability to be productive, the desire to boldly face whatever challenges life may bring. Or we can surrender to misery and assign scarcity to those who follow.

We can inspire an appreciation for passion in life by guiding and encouraging younger generations towards an intensity in their vocations, their adventures and their relationships with others. Or we can dishearten then through reproach and condemnation.

How will you be remembered? Are you imparting a message of hope or despair? Will you be remembered because you encouraged or because you disparaged? Are you teaching self-confidence or defeatism, passion or apathy? Are you leaving the legacy of your choosing?

The book is targeted at fathers and single mothers who want a male's perspective on raising daughters. The book is written for an adult male, i.e. it has short chapters, one to three pages, for quick reading (and short attention spans). It has 30 chapters and a key "take away message" highlighted in each chapter. It is organized both chronologically and by topic.

"I use actual dialogue I've had with my daughters to keep it light and fun to read." says the author. "While writing down the information in this book, it became apparent that other fathers could probably benefit from this same information. When my wife read the book, she commented that single mothers would probably buy it to get a 'man's perspective' on raising daughters. With these 2 additional objectives in mind, I am publishing and promoting the book."

If you have a daughter(s) or know someone with a daughter(s), then this book is a wonderful gift idea. It's a new book written "from the heart and from the hip" by the father of four daughters. The author shares his lessons learned, real-time experiences, and recent wisdom on the subject of "Raising Daughters." The book is entitled, A Father's Guide To Raising Daughters: Because I Need One. The book has 30 tips for raising daughters and is written in a no-nonsense, net, to-the-point manner. Each chapter is one to three pages long. It's a quick read with 83 pages. "Trying to get through to my kid is like talking to the wall!"

"Where do I draw the line when it comes to discipline?"

"We're always arguing about how to deal with our kids."

"I feel like the family slave! I have needs and desires, too."

Does any of this sound familiar to you? Are you tired of the conflicts and misunderstandings? As a mother of four boys, I know what this can feel like! But we're supposed to enjoy spending time with those who are most important to us, aren't we? So what can we do to set things on a better course? How would it be to have a step by step approach to improvement?

As both a parent and a psychologist, I've spent many years observing and analyzing what happens between parents and their children. Together we'll look at a wealth of real-life examples, examining patterns and habits of communication. We'll explore a proven method of finding your way through these sorts of dilemmas. You, like many parents I've had the privilege of working with before you, will find more clarity when dealing with typical "problem situations" as well as everyday interactions in the family.

When your son refuses to do his homework, for instance, or your daughter won't clean up her room, what can you do about it? We'll be looking at ways of resolving dilemmas like these. You'll learn methods that you can use to generalize from one specific situation to others systematically, once you understand their similarities. It's like having a master cookbook that's so clear and so thorough that you can create practically any recipe you need!

You'll find yourself becoming more relaxed as a parent. Problems won't seem so overwhelming, because you'll have a much better idea how to deal with them. Parenting will be more rewarding and less stressful. The ways that you and your children communicate with one another will become more constructive. So get ready! We're in for a wonderful adventure together.

What the professionals are saying:

Expecting high adventure, a widow naively moves to Colorado and marries a widower, owner of Poco Reino, a small ranch in the mountain-clad San Luis Valley. Both have young children: she, a 13-year-old son; he, a 6-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter.

From day one -- with no prior experience -- the author turns into a stepmother and ranch hand. The results: often disastrous, other times quite funny.

Close encounters with animals she's only seen or driven by before leave her screaming in terror, or feigning bravery beyond the call of duty. "Me, touch a chicken?" "There's a snake on my windshield!"

The livestock sale barn, learning to ride a horse, raising a brood of 65 fancy-breed chickens provide surprising awakenings. And she never expected to be tramping in the mountains with a husband who is first, a biologist, and second (she discovers), a part-time rancher.

The children share the adventure. Their fun, and not-so-much fun, activities are described thoughout.

"Women are still pioneering -- and still venturing West."

The current generation of young adults is focusing renewed attention on the importance of raising children. This group was the first who could easily and precisely plan the timing of parenthood, but messages about families were confusing. Casualties of cultural transition, the current group of parents and would-be parents voices feeling lost when it comes to creating a well-rounded family.

The book is an appreciative tale of a good, fun filled childhood. The tone is positive and humorous, yet incorporates earnest contemplation on how very essential a good role model can be. Each chapter springs from a quote or other verbal traditions (songs and stories) with which the author's mother relayed valuable lessons. These carefully chosen words served as tools for nurturing a confident approach to life. The stories detail the memory of growing up loved. Those seeking family meaning will experience it here, and come away with concrete ideas for thoughtful parenting.

The successful treatment of boys with behavior problems from the youngest ages to the teenage years is an enormous challenge to everyone involved in the care of these children. Aggression in youth is a major public health problem in this country and a burden on their families and communities. Boys who do not listen and who are aggressive are the most frequent visitors to child mental health clinics. They obtain help from caring professionals in clinics and private offices. But, parents who live with their sons and are most involved have a role that is important and crucial for success.

Dr. Passley describes from his practice and study of the literature parenting practices that have not worked well for the single mother. He moves from these examples to describe more effective ways to handle difficult situations that lead to improved and strengthened mother-son relationships. He gives clear and simple rules for effective parenting and recommends how best to deal with the topic of the absent father.

Dr. Passley skillfully presents those most important parenting tasks facing the single mother of building self-esteem, establishing boundaries, and establishing male role models for her son. His suggestions are easy to understand and presented with the assurance that they will work.

Dr. Passley has an understanding that stems from his academic interest and years of clinical experience as a child psychologist at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He directly addresses the single mother and provides her with a recipe to gain control of her family. Dr. Passley is to be congratulated for his optimistic and forceful presentation of this very important topic of a single mother parenting a son.

By by Keith Andrews, with Olivia Andrews

Babysitting and All That saw its first light as a humorous account of the bane of young females in high school, namely, babysitting.

However, the demands of Olivia's academic career postponed it to more than ten years after she left school, and when the father-daughter team eventually got around to writing the book, after many years of study in various fields, it developed into a work of much wider scope.

The book embraces recent studies regarding the mental capacity of babies at birth, the profound effects the wonder of new life has on the very new parents, the selection of features and traits in primates and hominids such as dimorphism and grooming behaviour, and the role of various hormones in the procreation cycle. Indeed, through her studies in these fields Olivia unravelled the biological basis of love and romance.

Fresh and provocative views are offered of the procreation cycle and the role procreation has always played in shaping the vagaries of the malleable human psyche. Special attention is also given to the desperate but misguided attempts of do-gooders throughout known history to undo and disparage many of the more meaningful consequences of the work of Mother Nature on human development and human happiness.

The humorous writing style, in addition to the witty and clear expositions, marks the book as a groundbreaking work in the popular science genre.

Knee-jerk reactions to a book of this sort should be expected from those who regard themselves well versed in principles of pious doctrine - if not in the basics of sound reasoning - and who thus feel severely threatened by the concept of free expression of thought. However, to thinking people the book concludes with a message as well as a challenge.

The Gift of Making a Child Happy

Many parents think that only a school can teach their child to fully understand language, reading and writing.

This book simply and easily describes how the opposite is true! School needs your help if your child is to do well. Dealing with early speech, and later reading and writing, this book makes you a complete expert in the field!

Parents are excellent teachers in the early years of a child's life because they know at any one time exactly what the child can do at this stage of his life.

Do you remember making your child smile for the first time, coaxing his first steps or first word? Intuitively you only ever set him a task which you knew was within his range of ability. Then, you began moving the targets by getting him to attempt something slightly more difficult than the things he could already do. So you see, from the minute your child was born you were already, constantly teaching him new skills.

This teaching shouldn't stop when your child goes to nursery or play school. Once you understand the role of language in learning, you will find teaching school topics becomes easier and your child will learn faster.

See for yourself how easy the process can be. Enable you and your child to enjoy learning.

This book is the perfect gift for anyone you know with young children in their lives, including teachers!

Not Even In Your Dreams is a powerful story about the conflicts between children's rights and parent's dreams. The reader is taken directly into the arena of conflicting attitudes on children's rights, where children become the victims of the dreams of their warring parents.

Told from the perspective of one of the children, the reader becomes a silent witness to the attitudes about children's rights as experienced by American children who find themselves in an African child's reality.

The story tells us why a loving mother ends her marriage to a supportive husband and father in order to find a better life for herself and her children. We learn about why parents are motivated to take drastic action against one another and the pain it causes their children. In this story, we learn why a desperate mother kidnaps her children from their father's custody to send them to live with a new husband in an African country.

Other highlights of the story are the children's conflicts over dividing their loyalties between their parents, their country of origin and their newly adopted culture, and the abuse they suffered at the hands of their new stepparents. The major highlight, however, is their miraculous return home to their father, family and friends in the USA.

Not Even In Your Dreams is a story for people of all ages.
