Get rich slowly! Financial independence is a marathon, not a sprint. The financial crisis revealed the hazards of financial illiteracy. Governments desperately want citizens to become financially independent so they’ll be less of a burden on them. Findependence Day presents personal finance in a “can’t put down” story format easily digested by young adults entering the work force and the world of money. Because money problems often cause marital breakups, it focuses on the financial journey of a young couple who experience the usual ups and downs of job loss, buying homes, raising children, investing and pensions, starting businesses, coping with stock market volatility and more. The secrets of financial independence are critical wherever you are in the financial life cycle: • Newlyweds embarking on family formation will discover the importance of financial planning. • Debt-plagued graduates will be motivated to embrace “guerrilla frugality.” • Home-owners will learn the foundation of financial independence is a paid-for home. • Those in their first jobs will embrace employer 401(k) plans, traditional IRAs and Roth IRAs. • New parents will discover the need for life insurance and saving for children’s education. • Mid-life investors will learn how to cut costs in their portfolios while benefiting from the expertise of financial planners. • Those near retirement will learn about advanced concepts like annuities and Asset Dedication. Jonathan Chevreau is the editor of MoneySense magazine, former personal finance columnist for the Financial Post and author of nine financial books, including The Wealthy Boomer: Life After Mutual Funds. He’s active in social media and blogs at www.findependenceday.com. “Once in a blue moon, a financial book is written that should be required reading for all. Such is the case with Findependence Day.” -- Peter Grandich, The Grandich Letter “A tour de force: a personal-finance book that is hard to put down.” – Larry MacDonald, CanadianBusiness.com “Having some fun while learning what's good for you is a double win -- particularly learning what we all need to know to live happier lives." – Charles Ellis, author of Winning the Loser’s Game This revised all-American edition features end-of-chapter summaries of financial concepts learned, a glossary and bibliography of books that will boost your financial literacy – or that of your kids.

How would you best describe your book? It is a personal finance resource manual, a course in self-sufficiency. Who is it for? Basically, anyone who is not on the Forbes list can probably benefit from this book. It helps those who are struggling to survive as well as those who are somewhat comfortable but would like to save for the future. Is this another get rich scheme? Absolutely not! I don't promise that if you buy and read this book, you'll be able to move into a mansion in the most exclusive neighborhood in town or that you'll jet off to Paris next week. The principles set forth in this book require planning, hard work, and most all, discipline. But other than the initial book purchase they will cost you nothing and if you are consistent, they will work for every family, every single time. How is what you teach different from every other book on personal finances out there? All books on finances tell you that you need to save money, but nobody tells you how. We'd all like to put a thousand dollars a month into a savings account, but where are you suppose to get it? All of the other financial programs and books I've seen are for people with money. Perhaps the subjects are grossly mishandling their funds, but the funds are available. They talk about putting money in the stock market, IRAs, 401Ks, and mutual funds. Those are not bad ideas, but they say nothing to people who are in financial crisis. When a mother doesn't know what she's going to feed her babies for supper she's not thinking about 401ks. Papa walks in the door from work and before he can take off his hat and coat, three collection agencies have called, the landlord is banging on the front door and the repo man is at the back door. Guess what? Papa couldn't care less about mutual funds at that point. What is the biggest misconception about the book? I think the biggest misunderstanding is that it's a book for "poor people." Sure, low income people will be helped greatly, but the middle class will also find that their money goes farther when they use the principles taught in Waking From the American Nightmare. How will it help them? Let me ask the question - What would you do with an extra 5, 10, or 15 thousand dollars a year? Maybe you're not worried about being evicted from your home, putting food on the table or the lights being turned off. We can still help you. Do you have credit card debt or a mortgage? Maybe you'd like to have mom stay home while the children are young. Perhaps you'd like to take a family vacation, save for college, purchase a second car or send the kids to a private school. Whatever your financial destination, Waking From the American Nightmare is the first step of that journey. How do you expect people with money problems to pay $25.00 for a book? People who want to change their financial situation can't afford not to have this book. In effect, it costs them nothing because it will more than pay for itself on the first trip to the grocery store. After that, the savings just keep adding up. it's really an investment.

Success is neither an inheritance, nor an accident. It is God's plan. Total Success Ministries Letter To Pastors Dear Pastors and Leaders, Please allow me to introduce Total Success Ministries; dedicated to helping people understand that God is our provider. God has laid it upon my heart to help people know His will through their finances. Even though we need to work, is not our source of supply. God is our source of supply. It is a difficult balance - working to obtain things but looking to God as the provider of all things -- and we all need to be reminded of the need for this balance time and again. We all tend to loose sight of this fact and think of our job as our provider and our focus gets clouded. And then more and more of our time is spent on material pursuits with little time left for the "spiritual" aspects of life. This results in more stress and far less of the peace that we all can have when our focus is on God and not on our own abilities. No doubt, there are many in your congregation who are struggling with this lack of balance right now and would benefit from learning of success from God's perspective. A Total Success seminar will help people live from God's point of view and grow in their faith in God. Please visit our web site at www.total-success.org where we have posted all the information you need to judge us. As you can see, the focus of the seminar is so much on the spiritual aspects and not on how to manage your money. Please examine these materials and prayerfully consider how those you minister to may benefit from learning more through a Total Success Seminar held in your church. Six new information systems development principles are presented and described so that any enterprise can apply them. By deploying these principles, a company can realize significant gain in ROI and in revenue. In addition to revenue increase, the cost of business will be reduced. The keys are to properly identify the big payoff systems projects, swiftly implement them, and enjoy a more cohesive business process. Since the late 1950s when business started using the mainframe computers to enhance business processing, certain principles were framed that have persisted to current practices. While technology leaders have been quick to usher in new tools, skills, and methods, the basic principles have not been questioned. For example, the systems analyst interviews of the VP of Production to understand a request for a new system in inventory control. The analyst asks questions, takes notes, and defines the requirements expressed. The VP claims a new system will save the company two shift foremen and three clerical positions. The analyst verifies this claim and it is accurate. Upon the analyst's feasibility analysis and specifications, the project is approved for development. A design is documented and approved, and the system is developed and implemented. The return expected was to save $250,000 per year at a cost of just $500,000 for system development. The payback-time is therefore approximately two years. Follow up shows the claims were correct, and everyone is satisfied with the new system. Is this scenario typical of how systems are developed today? Yes, it is typical of the well-organized IT department. It is also based on the old set of principles used since the dawn of computerization. Many companies practice this way, and they are missing the mark in a most critical area of competitive opportunity. You will see how and why in this book. A case study like this one and another regarding the new CEO coming on board illustrate what's wrong with present day practices. We are using outdated principles to lead today's dynamic enterprise, and it doesn't work. You will see how an enterprise can maximize ROI and revenue instead of just improving them. The author has formulated the six new principles and fortifies then with seven critical tools that every company should use. The keys to success are yours in this book, nominally priced and generously shared with you.

This book presents you with a new and fresh approach to the usually very technical and boring subject of direct-access trading. The Author's "Keep It Simple Stupid" approach enables you to learn about the Securities industry and, more important, the life as a professional trader with ease. You receive an entertaining insight on the Author's perspective. To round things up you are introduced to the very strategy that gave this book its name Hopscotch, of which the Author claims that it so easy to apply that even a child could be successful with it. A brief excursion into various other trading strategies and an extensive Appendix with explanations about Technical Analysis and Industry lingo give the book a neat balance between entertaining and educating its reader.
